He was just putting his hand on his upper lip and waving

Don’t mention the war

Hodgson was always a quality manager. England aside his record is impressive though his England stats 56% or so maybe not that bad

Lots worse out there. What he did with Switzerland was pretty miraculous

Cannot stand Hodgson, ever since his arrogant England press conference after the Iceland debacle, it's actually quite annoying he's done alright at Palace, so far.

Re: Wayne Hennessy didn’t know what a Nazi salute was
He could have said I was waving and shouting at the photographer and it was just an unfortunate shot in a series that wasn’t what it looks like.

To go the whole ‘Nazi? What that?’ defence ... I almost admire his sense of humour.
It is of course an utter load of bollocks for a 32 yo to say that.
And probably more embarrassing for Roy Hodgson to go along with it

Re: Wayne Hennessy didn’t know what a Nazi salute was
Mashed: Wayne's much older cousin, Terry Hennessy, was born during WWII. A fellow Welsh international footballer. Bangor , their birthplace, was evacuated during the Blitz. They must have spoken at some point??

I find it a bit IMPLAUSIBLE that Wayne is completely naive about the Nazis and WWII. Still, "judgement" apparently served.

I hope he learns something at school when he's out of short trousers.

Or he just gets the Black Forest Gateau he was clearly ordering.

Re: Wayne Hennessy didn’t know what a Nazi salute was
I reckon he's lying.

BUT, there are people out there who are truly ignorant (in the true sense) of world history and general knowledge or even a vague idea of pop culture.

If you're an obsessive pro sportsman who's lived in a bubble all your life where you're literally isolated from anything that's not your sport since childhood then it's not impossible that he simply has no clue about world history.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was telling the truth.

David Icke, Mark Bosnich and now this bloke.

Certainly shows the effect of putting your head where other players' boots are...

For a fast track education just sit him down to watch a particular episode of Fawlty Towers. Assuming he hasn't already seen it of course (like 99% of 32 year olds), in which case the subtle nuances of the plot must have totally escaped him in his ignorance.

Re: Wayne Hennessy didn’t know what a Nazi salute was
Hogdson could have said something much different, Bruuno.

Hennessy got off. Fine, I suppose: nothing "proven". But this is just digging a ditch.

It will go away eventually. But it's truly lamentable, even if Roy is just "defending his player."

Sad management.

I think we can assume he does know and he was fronting it out

Re: Wayne Hennessy didn’t know what a Nazi salute was
I seriously don't know whether to laugh or cry at this.

Pitiful excuses. Wayne must be the thickest / deafest / blindest man who has ever lived.

Well done, football. Roy: a man of your years should be ashamed.

Re: Wayne Hennessy didn’t know what a Nazi salute was
This nonsense from Hodgson is so embarrassing that I can't bring myself to read it fully. If it was about a player from China or Africa, it might be plausible.

Re: Wayne Hennessy didn’t know what a Nazi salute was
According to the piss stained manager of Palace, Hennessy is now ‘desperate’ to learn all about Hitler and the nazis. Course he is woy.

I admire the cut of his jib. Play them at their own game. The world is mental so join in

Re: Wayne Hennessy didn’t know what a Nazi salute was
Dont worry, he is going to reform himself.

Wayne Hennessey 'desperate' to learn about Nazis.

You wouldn't think the story could get more embarrassing but somehow it manages to.

Re: Wayne Hennessy didn’t know what a Nazi salute was
He’s got away with one there. Makes a mockery of all the things football and it’s governing bodies says it’s trying to do when they let this slide with a flimsy excuse like that. How can anyone take them seriously?

Also, would someone in the stands caught doing the same thing get away with it just by saying they were thick? Would they fuck. Arrested and lifetime ban from all football grounds more like it. They need to set an example and not allow horrendous double standards.
